Abby, 18 Month Check-Up

She always pulls her toes out of the top of her crocs then comes to us to put them back in.
We have to watch what we leave on the table as she will climb right up on Alex's chair to check out what we might have left behind!

Last week Abby had her 18 month well child visit at the pediatrician. She is growing well and endured a few shots with a just a whimper. She weighs 27lbs and was about 32" tall. She wears a size 6 shoe and as you can tell from the photos, her hair is growing very fast. She enjoys reading books at bedtime and playing outside. Alex is most certainly her best friend :)

Off To The Festival

Alex had been looking forward to attending Plainfield Fest and going on some of the rides, so Friday night that was exactly what we did! He jumped in the inflatables, rode the "Dragon Wagon" coaster, ate a huge bucket of popcorn and generally made lots of good memories. I love that he loves carnivals and gets so excited about going to them. Abby watched the excitement from the stroller and would point at Alex on every ride until he got down. They are at such a fun age and love to be busy!

Sanity

Sanity is all relative, especially when you have this little band going on in the backseat!

Safety Town!

Naperville offers a Safety Town program for 5 year olds on the verge of entering Kindergarten. Alex and his friend Emily have been attending each morning this week and are having a blast! They learn about all different types of safety topics and have covered dialing 911, bus safety, animal safety and bike safety so far. The mock town sits on the police department property in Naperville and is really just a perfectly organized program.

Survival

We were kind of in survival mode this weekend so I slacked pretty bad with the picture taking. Brad flew to Columbus Friday morning to meet up with our good friend Jeff for his bachelor party and they spent the weekend at a lake house in Kentucky. Alex and I picked him up at Midway last night after a torrential downpour delayed his flight just slightly.

Saturday, we went swimming with Karen and Chris (or "Christ" as Alex refers to him) at their pool. Alex is a fish with his life jacket on and swam all over the pool. He had good form and I really think he could swim without the life jacket, if he'd just give it a chance! Abby spent most of her time playing in the shade, out of the pool, begging for Cheez-Its from the other kids she met. We ate our picnic lunch, swam some more, then were on our way home :)
This week Alex will be attending "Safety Town" in Naperville and is really looking foward to it. Hopefully he learns lots and has fun!

Fourth of July Weekend

Abby, chomping ice.
Alex, relaxing in the baby pool.

Abby and Vanessa preferred to watch the neighbors' fireworks from inside the glass door, but all the kids loved the Plainfield fireworks show!
Sprinkler fun!
Cheese!

These photos pretty well sum up our weekend activities. Add a little grilling, shopping, and socializing to the list and that was our holiday weekend! We love three-day weekends!

One and a Half

Abby is now one and a half. She is so, so busy. Chasing her outside is a full-time job. She loves putting rocks, mulch, chalk, and any other random outdoor item in her mouth. We fish things out of Abby's mouth all day long. She tries to sneak into the street. She "hugs" the cats and the neighbors dog.
She loves to chomp on ice while we sit outside. Actually, we prefer she do this than run around eating rocks. As long as it is hot outside, we take a small cup of crushed ice out with us. Most days she'll eat whatever we give her but she is becoming a little more picky about her foods. Her hair is crazy all of the time, but in an adorable sort of way. I can't believe it is already July!
