Househunting

Brad's company has informed everyone we are headed to Houston next summer.  We were given lots of options regarding relocation.  Lots.  As we watched the sale prices soar on homes in our current neighborhood in VA, we felt comfortable moving forward with our convoluted relocation plan.  Sell while the market is high here and close over the summer while there are plenty of rentals available in our neighborhood.  Less to worry about next year, but taking on that headache this year for sure.

As it turned out, the family a few doors down from us in VA was getting ready to lease their house for the first time and we were happy to prepare to move into our "interim housing" only a few houses down the street.

Once the rental was lined up, we were in a good position to go house hunting.  We were optimistic the house here in VA would sell quickly and wanted to have something lined up in TX.  We have watched prices in the Woodlands steadily climb over the last two years and wanted to lock in a house down there before the stampede of employees next Spring.

The house we landed on satisfied most if not all of our requirements and has us utterly excited on so many levels.  The first being it is only two years old.  No more renovation projects!  There is plenty of space for all of us and then some.  This will be our 4th house.  Each time we learn something new and get a better feel for what really works for our family.  The cul-de-sac location was at the top of Alex and Abby's lists!

The island seats 6.  C'mon over for coffee or appetizers, or anything really.  Bring your friends.

Master bedroom/bath/closet.  A far cry from our current set up. Actually more similar to our very first house in TX eleven years ago.

The game room at the top of the stairs that we know the kids will love.  There is plenty of room for all of their friends to come over, play video games, hang out, watch movies, have sleepovers, play legos, anything really.

We looked and lots of houses during that trip and kept coming back to this one.  It is just outside the Woodlands limits and we were able to get a little more square footage for a little less money.  Same schools.  New house.  Close to highway.  Close to Dave and Becca.  A win-win as far as we were concerned.  We cannot wait!

Once all that was done...there was plenty of this...

and this.  Many thanks to our gracious hosts Dave, Becca, Don and Rita.  Cheers!
